Yes in general i would agree with that, I am hoping that a mood stabiliser will help me deal better with the long term depressive side of the BP. Also having the RIMA (moclobemide) reversible MAOI i think a mood stabiliser may actually contribute to the reversible side of it (and not be as specific as generally how people feel that the stabiliser will only deal with the manic side of it.
I think the common ground is that people would prefer a bit of controlled mania over, a bit of uncontrolled depression. Mania seems to be able to be perceived better and the active mind is able to (with correct awarness of one's self) be used to an advantage to promote motivation and emotive feelings, rather than the lack of interraction when one is in a depressed state (feeling helpless/hopeless/negative).
But I do see and understand you point....and I hope she is able to learn more along the way to help her feel more sucure in finding what may suit the situation pertaining to her, or her perception of what is the affecting problem.Wish i could help more.....but she's on the right track. It's never to late to learn.
