C.,
I'm sorry you are having such a tough time. But like someone else said, congrats for wanting to address it at your age. I started with depression when I was in high school, and I never got up the nerve to see a psychologist until I was in my mid thirties! Now, I wish I had been able to before, as it has made all the difference in the world. My therapist has also been able to help me get exactly the right diagnosis, which helped my doctor prescribe the medication that is finally helping.CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy)is an excellent choice for panic attacks. There is a ton of research that suggests it is very effective. There are also treatment workbooks and manuals out there which could give you some idea of what to expect from a CBT therapist. You might be able to find something on the web or at the library.
Perhaps you could include one or both of your parents in your search for a treatment that feels right to you. Then they may feel they understand better about giving you the time you need to deal with this.
But definitely keep posting. This is a great place to talk about your fears and to get support.
Good luck and take care of yourself!
