Phillipa, Are there enough benefits to the procedure that make it worth having? Will the condition worsen so that you may have to go through with it another time if not now? If so, the risks then will be higher of course but ultimately it is your choice based on the level of discomfort/lack of function that currently exists.
Is the surgeon someone who is highly skilled and reputable? If so, the outcome of surgery may allow you to have some normalcy in that area and that could help with any defective feelings. The condition sounds very uncomfortable.
Despite your fears, I would try and get a sense of what this new body will be like, with the tummy tuck and all.
Fear of surgery is normal but for you so much moredifficult due to your anxiety. Can your therapist offer any suggestions to dealing with the anxiety and fear in your upcoming sessions?
