> I am always struggling with the want to be healthier. I need to change my sleeping habits. I work late every night. So I sleep late everyday. Any suggestions on how to regulate my sleep patterns. Eating/excersizing/living habits all flexible.
I can think of a few things:
1. Don’t go to bed within an hour of finishing work. After finishing work, read a book. If you don’t like reading, find something else relaxing to do; have a bath or whatever. Watching TV is something to avoid; it might feel relaxing but it won’t help you sleep. Oh yeah, and if you can drink a glass of warm milk or hot chocolate before bed, that should help too.
2. Have a regular waking up time. Make it about 8 hours after you normally go to bed. Force yourself out of bed at the same time even if you sometimes go to bed later than usual. This works even better if you can go to bed at the same time every night, even if it’s 3am, but I know that’s hard to do when you work late.
3. Go for a walk within an hour of waking up. Even a 10 minute walk will help.
4. Make sure you eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. If you snack while you’re working, try to snack on nuts and raisins; avoid chips and chocolate! Drink plenty of water; especially while you’re working.
Hope that helps!
