I'm a Type II diabetic, diagnosed last year around this time, and my blood sugar is pretty much kept under control with Glucophage.
I have a project that, unlike most of my work, needs to be done at the office. My general way of doing this, since my time is limited (I have to pick my son up from school, etc.) is to eat a hearty breakfast and bring drinks and granola bar type snacks to work. In the past it's been sugary drinks, this time it's diet drinks or water.
And I find that this time my productivity is practically nil. I drag through the day ok, but when I try to do the work I brought home to do, I find I've crashed the moment I walk through the door. I'm not good for much of anything all evening and am asleep early.
Is the granola bars not enough to eat during the day? Or is the big breakfast a bad idea? Am I doing something wrong, diabetes wise?
Or is it just harder to physically cope with demanding situations when you're a diabetic.
