I care. Thanks for the update
> I haven't purged in 14 days now! I think it's a big accomplishment. I've been tempted, but I've overcome the urge.
I think it's a big accomplishment too. Keep up the good work.
> My Mom doesn't ask how I'm doing anymore. I think she's just assuming I'm doing well, even though I still struggle with it.
> My Mom said she's ashamed of my purging. She thinks purging is a very stupid thing to do. She doesn't understand. She said it would be great for me to lose 10 pounds.Deneb, sounds to me like your mom doesn't really understand why you were purging. Do *you* understand why you were purging? I think it's probably more complicated than the urge to lose weight. Millions of folks want to lose weight but most of them don't engage in disordered eating. Were you trying to hurt yourself, or show the world that you needed attention? These are some reasons why young women engage in disordered eating.
> Right now I'm trying to lose weight. I'm watching my calories again. I started on Dec. 3. I would like to lose about 20 pounds. Losing weight makes me happy.
>Tell me more about why it makes you feel happy. Is it the planning and the pride that you can stick with something? Is it the way your body feels when you're on a diet? Is it because you are giving yourself healthier more nutritious foods than usual? Is it because you like changing the way you look?
Please talk with your pdoc about your planned weight loss. 20 lbs is a lot on someone your height. I'm not sure that it's a realistic goal, or that it's healthy for many young woman.
Maybe it might be a good idea to commit to making your body as HEALTHY as possible, rather than just focusing on the number on the scale. You can feel pride and change the shape of your body by doing weight training exercises and taking walks/jogs to burn fat. You say that losing weight makes you happy-- I bet that losing FAT will make you feel happy too. It's a healthy kind of happy, one that your body can sustain and one that will make you more fit, more mentally sharp and more self-confident.
think about it.
thanks for the update :)
