>"Middlesex" by Jeffrey Eugenides. Its a wonderful book!
And I see it's finally out in paperback.
I'm reading Antonio Damasio's "Descarte's Error", finally, after hearing about it here at Babble a few years ago. I think it was Elizabeth who recommended it. So far so good.
As for depression memoires, I've read Styron's a number of times, picking it up for inspiration when needed (it's short, so it's good for that purpose). I've also read Martha Manning's "Undercurrents" which was good. I read an excerpt of Tracy Brown's book that appeared in the newspaper, and an excerpt of Andrew Solomon's "Noonday Demon" in the New Yorker before the book came out and have been meaning to read the book since. He appeared on one of the news magazine shows recently, btw, on depression, having found success with Lexapro. His father is apparently a bigwig at the company that makes Lexapro.
As for novels, I was reading "Girl with a Pearl Earing" but put it down over a month ago and keep forgetting to get back to it!
There are so many books that I'd like to read but I don't seem to be able to settle down to read much lately. I go in spurts--sometimes I read a lot and sometimes I can't focus enough. Lately I seem to be reading a few things at a time but never finishing anything!
Nikki, you are really a voracious reader. I admire that.
