In reply to adding coenzyme q10, alpha lipoic acid, posted by Christ_empowered on February 20, 2015, at 13:20:09
Hey Christ_empowered,
Good luck with your new supplements. I've taken both coenzyme q10 and alpha lipoic acid myself. When I took coenzyme q10 when I had psychotic symptoms prior to going on Abilify, I actually noticed a reduction in psychotic symptoms for maybe a few hours each time I would take it, but it also seemed to slow my thoughts and deplete my energy too much. However, when I took coenzyme q10 with Abilify, I didn't seem to notice any problems with slowed thinking or reduced energy. In fact, the supplement may have helped with those problems when I took it alongside Abilify, at least at first. As far as alpha lipoic acid is concerned, I've pretty much always benefited from it every time I'd start taking it (mainly as far as energy and concentration are concerned), but then seemingly lose my benefits after staying on the supplement for more than a day or two. I even tried a time-release version of alpha lipoic acid once, but that seemed to mostly affect me the same way the regular non-time-release stuff affected me.
Have you started with the new supplements yet? Are you noticing anything early on? Again, I wish you luck.
