> I have the same brand Mag-Threonate and, after a few weeks, I am liking it. It doesn't seem to matter when I take it: it doesn't make me tired, though I tend to take it before bed. I haven't really noticed much other than a gradual improvement in mood, and other "serotonin"-type reactions such as waking up earlier. I didn't take it one day and the next day I felt very down. Don't know if it was a coincidence or not.
For the past 3 days I was really heading downhill and I couldn't figure out why. I kept going through my journals trying to connect the dots. Turns out my choice to drop my Magnesium Citrate was a bad idea. My mood started to become dark, dysphoric again. I took 400mg at midnight and there was a greater sense of calm, anxiety was vastly reduced, my poor cognition was improving, reading became easier, comprehension skills, information processing, and I felt some greater capacity for being able to enjoy something on a minor level.
The reason i stopped taking it before is because I thought it was numbing me out. Perhaps I was just taking too much of it or it was interacting with one of B6, Resveratrol, omega 3, licorice root, l-tyrosine, or ginkgo biloba. And of course it is said to boost ritalin. It may have just been coincidence though but most likely a bad interaction.
One thing is absolutelty certain. It destroys anxiety better for me than valium! It provides some sense of peace.
I'm a bit unfamiliar with seratonin effects as my memory is a bit fuzzy regarding those meds.
What kind of seratonin reactions did you have? Or anyone for that matter...
