Glycine is especially good for some people with schizophrenia where the NMDA receptors are not functioning normally. That being said, after I started taking 4mg Risperdal per day, I felt the glycine was actually making me feel worse, so if you're taking antipsychotics, be careful with glycine. It may or may not help as an adjunct to medication. Supposedly, it works well if you are taking clozapine, but probably not with other antipsychotics. Also, the doses are so high, 30grams per day. I just can't imagine that this wouldn't cause some side effects. I can only tolerate a low dosage because higher dosages tend to make my depression worse. So I think glycine therapy is hit or miss. It either works or it doesn't. Not all schizophrenics will benefit.
