bad reaction to taurine

I took a very small amount of taurine from a 1,000 mg capsule to make sure I tolerated it. Am glad I was cautious because I had a bad reaction - initially just nausea, dizziness and a strange headache feeling. Then it progressed to tingling on my face, jaw tightness and diarrhea. This seems like a strange set of reactions and I was wondering if anyone had something similar.
