In my personal experience magnesium is the only non-rx treatment I've found useful for anxiety (and ADHD also incidentally). Of course it's nothing like a benzo and I doubt it could tackle significant anxiety by itself.

The main problem I have with it is that it actually seems to poop-out a bit like a prescription.

There's lots of debates about the different forms and calcium/magnesium ratios that I honestly couldn't tell you about.

I take Slow-Mag (hospitals sometimes use this for people with mild magnesium deficiencies) which is Magnesium Oxide, or sometimes just good old rolaids which is magnesium carbonate.

I sometimes get heart palpitations and it definitely helps with that. I don't think you'd have to spend terribly much to give it a try. They always say however to make sure you don't have kidney problems as magnesium is eliminated by the kidneys. Hope this helped.
