Now that is serious. It's hard to avoid it nowdays as they seem to add it to everything. I know the prepackaged stuff and the labeling tricks.

Yes, definitely, if not caused by then exaccerbated by them. My theory on my own depression is that it is a latent infection that somehow sits in my brain and causes a low state of inflammation. MSG, stress, too much stimulation like at a mall, whatever seems to aggravate it and there is a sometimes catastrophic flare up.
The only proof I have though is night sweats, and a generally over heated body in the absence of thyroid abnormalities. However all blood tests show up within "normal" ranges.
The relief I get from the anti-inflammatory approach is the only *true* relief I have ever had since this started. The rest is masking or management.
