Vitamin A apart from being a fat soluble antioxidant, and the first line of defence against infection, also works at DNA level to control genes. Like vitamin D it can speed up or slow down the rate at which neurotansmitters, enzymes and receptors are produced....only realised this today! Steroid hormones do the same - neurotransmitters control the production of steroid hormones, then homones control production of neurotransmitter genes - it's quite neat!Ray
