OK- being pregnant gives me a small disadvantage of flight... however, it's a 14 hour drive out there.... which I have done before- to get to Ohio, on a whim... and just to see the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame... so it is possible
I do have a wedding to go to in June, so I have to check what date that is and compare it to what date this will be.
So a few things that would make a difference to those considering a plane ride or long drive....
There would have to be enough Babblers attending to make it a true get together that will be worth the trip... we all have friends here... so if we can start convincing those closer friends of ours on here, it would be a good starting point to really sealing the deal to those who are on the fence. Of course I see some of my favorites have already posted about meeting- so I'm lucky :) There are a few more I will work on....
Another thing to look into is what events could take place for the get together- fun things to do, maybe find a nice hotel that's nt too pricey that we could all stay and have a bar to schmooze in, a restaurant to eat in and somethings close by to look into (sporting events, a play, museums)... another idea is to address some good issues to talk about- maybe assign a few attendees to getting something together... like a slideshow of pictures that different babblers could send in (even ones that couldn't make it)... someone could gather good stories about how Babble ha helped them through bad times and good friends that they have met... maybe a poetry slam for those on the writing board... a book gathering- meaning babblers could bring books with thier favorite excerpts that they find meaningful, moving, helpful, specific to certain mental health issues...
And of course a party! food music maybe raffle prizes a comedian (I think we should all give stand up a try- we all have SUCH good material- it's obvious we are a funny crew :) )
I think it would be wise to keep it all on a positive note, seeing that we'll be travelling for this, we all want something positive to look forward to....
These are just ideas.. if this flies, I'd be happy to help out with getting things together
I think it mostly depends on who could feasibly make it there, the more the merrier and the more apt people will convince themselves it's worth the trip
