That's very sweet of you, Phillipa, but no -- I was a visiting graduate student for a year in philosophy. I did a little cognitive neuropsychology but I never studied medicine or neurosicence or biology or immunology in the US. I would have stayed on if I could have studied those things... To the best of my knowledge I couldn't, though. Maybe I could have stayed on if I wanted to continue on with Philosophy. But I didn't want to continue on with Philosophy.
And apparently (as always) theres so many many many many more people who want to do that than there are places for them.
(Which is why we continually force people to only do things they don't want to do).

Sometimes random events do happen. Could be unrelated. I don't know.

I think this is modern warfare. The form it takes. What you have to do to get countries (like New Zealand) to comply with various things. To comply with getting with the programme when it comes to things like climate change and pollution and the like.
Vaccines... Are leverage.
Border closures.
Trade-sanctions.
If you want tourists to be allowed to come into your country then you need to develop a health system sufficient to not murder or rape them in the couple weeks before we can expatriate them / send our medics out.
Kinds of things...
I think the losing teams are those without access to vaccines.
Because the are potentially lethal viruses that are quite transmissable in communities...
And it is likely the strains will mutate... ANd there will need to be a constant succession of...
