The vaccines get the immune system exposed to a bit of the virus protein on the surface so the immune system finds a bit of itself (some B cells) that can make antibodies that bind to it.

Then the body makes clones of those B cells... And they hang around. The second dose of the vaccine makes sure the 'memory response' (the number of B cells capable of making antibodies) remains high.

Then, if you are exposed to the actual virus your body should be able to identify that and crank out antibodies fast enough to keep the viral load down so that you don't get sick from the virus and (hopefully) so that you don't pass the virus on to other people as well.

The B cells live in your lymph nodes. And... Spleen, I think. so you might get a swelling there are the B cells that live there undergo the colony expansion of making lots of memory B cells that can make antibodies against the virus.

I think that's the rough idea...

So it depends where the B cells in your body capable of reacting ot the virus live. I don't know if all of the bodies immune response capability is in every single lymph node... Or if it's that some people happen to keep the cells capable of responding to the Corona Virus surface protein that they are using for the vaccine response... IN their auxillary lymph nodes, in particular.

The side effects are ones associated iwth your bodies immune response as your body detects an antigen and tries to encourage you to take it easy for a couple days to help the body prioritise getting proteins and nutrients to the immune cells (it uses a lot of protein to make antibodies).

If I was in the US and felt I had access to competent healthcare (as it sounds like you do) then I would get a vacine yes.

In this part of the world we have to worry about so much in the way of human error and so on... They can't process applications to medical school... They undermine the public confidence.

My dissent is political becuase our nation insists on refusing to develop medical capability by refusing to process applications, refusing to train the workforce, refusing to pay the workforce and so on and so on and so on...

I wish I spoke other languages. Particularly Chinese.

I wouldn't want to be responsible for what anybody else does, either. Not if they were capable of making their own decision. That's too much of a weight to bear if you get it wrong. For sure.
