I was given clorgyline at a time when I was completely unresponsive to all of the drugs I was trying, including Parnate and Nardil. I responded to clorgyline, but only partially. The improvement was inadequate, and still left me depressed and unemployable. I asked the doctor at the NIH if he would consider adding a TCA to it. He wouldn't do it. I understood why, but felt that I needed to move forward.
It may be that clorgyline is particularly effective because it is irreversible and specific for MAO-A.
