We are not talking generally, we are talking specifically about the venlafaxine + oxcarbazepine combination.

We are not discussing pain pills or alcohol. These drugs have a different mechanism of action and can both cause respiratory depression in overdose.

The only drugs which exponentially magnify the effects of venlafaxine are the MAOIs, and as such this combination results in toxicity. The effects of venlafaxine are not exponentially magnified by oxcarbazepine.
