I've taken a half milligram of klonopin for 18 or better years and if I was going to try to go off of it ever, I would probably cross over to diazepam and do a slow taper but for now, I'm staying put.
Just my two cents.

Current meds:
10mg. paxil
50mg. nortriptyline
.5mg. clonazepam
Of all the meds I've tried, nortriptyline worked the best but I gained 20lbs or so in 9 months.
