Ok so I saw a few possible clues in your post. One had to do with the whole pristiq/cymbalta/effexor thing. The other was the pre-menstrual thing.
With those in mind, I would be thinking in terms of:
1. What will help balance hormones?
2. It is also good for anxiety?
3. It is also good for depression?
4. It is also good for energy?
5. It has something to do with norepinephrine, dopamine, opioid, and serotonin circuits? The substance I'm thinking of that is all of those at the same time is rhodiola rosea. No matter what meds or supplements you take going forward, this has the potential to be a strong base to make everything else work much better or else it can also work well all by itself. In terms of meds I would be looking at ways to hit both norepinephrine and serotonin fairly equally at the same time. None of your other meds did that, but they did give a clue that norepinephrine is something your chemistry likes. Ways to do that include nortriptyline+zoloft; nortriptyline+prozac; desipramine with either zoloft or prozac; milnacipran.
