blood pressure 244/102-- why?

Posted by inanimate peanut on January 10, 2010, at 17:36:08

My blood pressure went up to 244/102 last night. I almost had to go to the ER (I refused treatment with the ambulance). It stayed up at around 185/107 for a long time. I have no idea what caused this. The only things I ate were ice cream and cake at a friend's house. Earlier in the day I had had my protein shake. I had nothing else for the day. I took my regular meds except added Wellbutrin. I took the Wellbutrin this morning as well and my bp stayed down at normal levels (below normal actually). Anyway, it was really scary and I wish I knew what caused it so I wouldn't do it again. Has this ever happened to any of you? Seemingly spontaneous spikes in BP? What do you think caused it?
