Nardil dosage times irrelevant?

Posted by pedr on September 19, 2009, at 19:15:46

Hi gang,
Wikipedia says the following on its Nardil page:
"Although phenelzine has a relatively short half-life (approximately 1.2 hours), unlike most other drugs, phenelzine irreversibly disables MAO, and as a result, it does not necessarily need to be present in the blood at all times for its effects to be sustained."

Does this mean that it makes no difference whatsoever, in terms of its efficacy, whether I take my daily amount in one go, or 1 pill every two hours or any variant thereof?

I ask because it just occurred to me that I take 2 x 15mg before bed (11pm) and 3 x 15mg when I get up (7am) which is a period of only 8 hours, leaving 16 hours without a dose. I've been doing this through habit mainly.

Thanks,
Pete
