I'm sorry you're struggling so hard with this situation, Kerria. I had to go off Oxycontin, without a substitute offered, and then try to deal with the pain by other means. It was so bad, I lost the ability to speak, to follow conversations, to type....to do anything, really. If anyone wonders where I went about two years ago, now you know. I was "locked in" by pain. I now get nerve blocks, and I've learned mindfulness, but I don't think any doctor understands what it's like. My pain isn't gone, by any means. But I get by.
To answer your original question, 240 mg/day oxycontin is equivalent to 360 mg/day oral morphine. That is an average conversion. As always, your mileage may vary. As you've already indicated, the side effect profile is different, also. You just can't switch one for the other, and assume everything will match up perfectly.
All the best.
