I considered VNS. Insurance won't pay. You can enroll in studies. MGH in Boston has one ongoing. My reading of the literature showed results comparable to ADs. About 30% reported improvement; 30% was attributable to the placebo effect. 30-40% did not improve significantly. Try googling VNS and MGH. I wish I could remember the studies I was looking at. It made the cover of some psychpharm journal my doc lent me but, unfortunately, I can't remember which one. I do remember that, like a pacemaker, it has to be removed periodically to have the battery replaced. That kind of turned me off. There is a guy at the Beth Irsael in Boston who is doing the Transcranial stuff. My understanding is that he is showing improvement in about 30% of patients. That is a non-invasive treatment but must be done every day for six weeks and is also not reinbusable.
I'm going to the gym. That's the provigil talking.Zana
