When did you stop taking Effexor? Effexor withdrawals could be one of the problems. Withdrawals from Effexor are very serious and should be supervised by a physician. Oddly enough, withdrawals from this psychotropic can cause psychotic events.
I tried unsupervised cessation on my own and I experienced serious audio hallucinations, depression, stomach problems, visual problems, vertigo, the list is long.
I agree with the suggestion to get a second opinion. If you're like me it's hard to try to find a different doctor.
