In reply to HPA Axis and Depression - Way Too Long, posted by Cam W. on April 28, 2000, at 21:36:15
To anyone who might be able to give me some answers!! I have been dealing with a terrible sleep disorder and body pain for the last 25 years of my life. I am currently 40, and my symptoms began in my mid teens, after a 3 year bout with Anorexia.
I have had my cortisol levels tested and found out that my levels were very low in the mornings and afternoons, but very high at night. Obviously, this is why I am unable to sleep at night, no matter how fatigued I may be.
I have also gone 48-72 hours without being able to sleep at all!
I would like to know, if my sleeping problem IS due to a cortisol problem, and a disregulated HPA axis, WHAT CAN BE DONE TO REBALANCE MY HPA AXIS AND CONFUSED CORTISOL LEVELS?
ARE THEIR MEDS TO REBALANCE THE HPA AXIS? WHAT ABOUT NATURAL SUPPLEMENTS? WHAT TESTS HAVE TO BE DONE TO DETERMINE EXACTLY WHAT IS GOING WRONG WITH MY HORMONES AND/OR HPA AXIS?
THANK U FOR ANY HELP ANYPNE CAN OFFER TO ME!
