My dog already takes tramadol prescribed by the vet. Dogs can take morphine and use fentanyl patches. I looked it up and increased the tramadol myself and the vet was not happy. The medicine is fairly new to her so I think she was being very conservative with it. I know dogs can take morphine. At 18 pounds he would take 4-16mg 3 times a day or "more frequent if needed". That would approximate 30-115mg three times a day for me. I am not sure what form of morphine sulphate a dog would be given anyway. I used to give him some of my fentora, about enough to fit on a pin head. I thought it helped him but I was so scared I doubt I ever gave him any amount that would have actually made a difference. My appointment with the dog was supposed to be with her this past week but they made a mistake so I had to ask the techs the questions and she finally came in but did not have time to discuss his pain meds with me but for a minute. She always acts like this , whatever at the time is the last resort and I prepare myself for the worst when his pain increases again and then shell say oh we can give him this or that now. I want to change vets but he has been treated by her for almost 10 years now and she knows him. She referred me to a specialist a few weeks ago for an ultra sound and that vet told me one of his meds is probably causing the other problems he was there for or at the very least making them worse. She got mad when I told her that I wanted to try his old NSAID again because of this. She disagreed with the diagnosis. Well she sent me there and talked the other vet up like mad. Told me how great he was and how he was such a great teacher to her. Ill call there tomorrow but as nice as he was it was at an emergency clinic so he might not talk much more to me.

Sorry I got you so worried. I am worked up about him tonight. He was crying again and this time I did not have any option to increase his medicine as he is already taking the maximum. I was helpless. I think he is in the other room asleep now. I like watching him sleep especially now that I increased his meds, a week or so ago. He stopped shaking all the time and sleeps calmly now. It is peaceful.

Thanks,

Oky
