I prefer nitrazepam also.
It might be worth asking your Doctor if you can try Sonata (Zaleplon), as it has a very short half life which means you can take it twice, before you go to bed, and if you wake again and there are still 4 hours left in which you can sleep you can take another. I have heard various comment about its efficacy, as per usual from it works very well for me, to it does nothing. So I think you will just need to give each one a try in turn until you hit the one that works for you.
