I'm not sure lithium is what you need - although it may help.
It seems to me that you got some bad news today and couldn't contain it and it began to spiral to a very dark place. It's okay. You just need to improve your writing. That is absolutely something that is well within your power to control.
Learning to contain those emotions is also well within your control. Are you in therapy? Most colleges offer some sort of temporary mental health care and referrals for longer term care (that's how I hooked up with my T/psychiatrist).
As a teacher, I often have to give kids bad news. If you only knew how much it pains me to do so. While I do think her particular response was a bit harsh, sometimes it is the ultimate show of respect for your students to be honest with them.
I haven't read your papers, so I don't know if she is correct or not. But at least she has given you a place to start. If she is advising you to drop, I would. It's not the end of the world (really, it isn't). You can pick the class up later and potentially even sign up for another section that may provide more help.
This has gotten a little off topic for the medication board. But I've posted over on students with some additional tips as well.
Seldom.
