I was on Neurontin for about 3 months and it diminished my memory. Sure, it helped with the anxiety but, I couldn't focus in school or have any real stimulating conversations or experience that I could remember. I really didn't like that. I have been on meds since I was 15 or so. (Buspar, Zoloft, Wellbutrin...) I have been on Effexor XR for 2yrs now and I am the happiest with it as opposed to any other. There are sexual side effects and others you may experience, but if you have a healthy sex drive...that can be overcome. Within the first 2mos the side effects are the worst, but after I got through that I've been great. If you take the full dose 225mg of Effexor it works on levels of both serotonine and norepinephrine. My sister and I have had, overall, success with it. Neurontin is just not something that I would, personally recommend for you if you are proactively trying to deal with your anxiety/depression. Of course, we must be proactive in behavior modifications and chemistry manipulation.
