the brain

Posted by Squiggles on September 16, 2006, at 15:37:54

I really wish that biological
psychiatry were more popular.
I find diagnosis by sociology and
Foucault et al, very frustrating; especially
when behaviour is so obviously linked
to medications or brain injuries.
When you think of this approach, it
indicates that mental illness IS a STIGMA;
Alzheimer's patients are far more likely
to get an MRI for example. But Alzheimer's
is not in the category of mental illness,
as it should be. Alzheimer's patients are
not analyzed for their childhood traumas,
for example.

Just ranting, sorry.
