Oh, and I am also on Provigal. Which by the way, makes me SLEEPY. I found one person that just so happens to be on Psycho-Babble (that is how I found this site) that also experienced the paradoxical effect. My Psych has been in practice for 35 years and has NEVER heard of this. I'm thinking, well, why WOULDN'T I be the only one to ever have this problem? (Being sarcastic) It really bothers me that he has never heard of this. I am thinking well, first of all, does he believe me? Which he is really a nice doctor I think he does, but maybe not, who knows? So I am like, Ok, so now what do I do? He dropped me to half the dose, which I just started today. I know what is going to happen...I am just going to be a little less tired. I really don’t know if this is helping anything. He gave it to me because I have trouble with wanting to sleep all of the time. I was on adderall, but the bad side effects eventually superceded the positive effect of the drug. One funny thing is while being on Provigal, my brain was really relaxed, no 1000 thoughts rushing through my head at one time. That is why I haven't gotten off of it, because it is nice to have a relaxed brain. I felt as if I was walking on pillows the first day. I was euphoric at times and when someone would interrupt that feeling that is when the "quick anger" would go into effect. I would be furious in no time. The anxiety is almost all of the time. My eyes always feel heavy, and irritable most of the time, which also triggers the "quick anger". Oh, and I can totally read a book...word after word. I totally understand and stay interested, but later when I try to think of what it was I read, most of it is gone. The most wonderful thing of all is that I am not and have not experienced any depression since I have started everything. The depression has been a major, major issue for me for many years. I want to stay as far away from that as possible, that is why I will not get off of the Lamictal. Doc told me that I could try Depakote, but I have been reading. It does help with the anger and so on, but it can cause weight gain, and it doesn't help with the depression or rapid cycling (which is what I am). I dont want to take, what I think you call "Benzo" meds. If these are the ones that they give you for anxiety and such...then no. They not only make me sleepy, but they cause mild depression (if I am currently on meds, otherwise it would be worse depression than what ever I would be having at the moment). Anyone....Anyone?
