I'm not sure if its what you would call an antidepressant effect, but when I was prescribed it in the past for sleep and I waited up... well, I got a happy loopy feeling plus I wanted to raid the entire fridge. I think it hits some of the same receptor areas maybe that other hunger-inducing drugs such as remeron and the like do, but thats pure speculation.

Oh, to the other post, its a drug in its own class, not a TCA..

A full adult dose would seem to me to knock a horse down.. 150mg up to 400mg and more in hostpital situations.

On the other hand, for sleep, I did get up to 150mg as I got used to the initial 50mg dose, on one occasion. Groggy was I though in the morn. I had to cut back a little.

TMI, and off topic, mayhaps, but priapism isnt completely rare... we will leave that there for the sake of general audience

And on that note....!
