I actually did use it as an antidepressant for about six months till it began to prove inadequate. I'm rather amazed that I was able to use it, since now 50mg is plenty to put me to sleep. But I don't recall oversleeping being a problem when I was using it as an antidepressant. I don't remember the exact dosage I took, but it was considered in therapeutic range.

You have me curious. I'd virtually forgotten about taking it and, curiously, have come to accept as fact the notion that it would inevitably cause round-the-clock sleep at a higher dose. Maybe one of these weekends I'll experiment and try, say, a 150mg dose to see what happens. It would be interesting if I discovered that the only difference for me between 50mg and 300mg were the rapidity and depth of sleep and not the length.
