Hi John,
From what I understand, some of the TCAs including trazodone and doxepin (which is what I use for insomnia) are actually more sedating at lower dosages. At least that's what my GP and PDoc have told me. You shouldn't be as sleepy on it when taking it at a therapeutic anti-depressant dose.
