I took 225mg Effexor XR for several years, and now take 60 mg Cymbalta. The two have had very similar effects for me, including not being very effective on their own in relieving my depression. I'm not sure either of them alone has done anything for my anxiety, but as the depression lifts, the anxiety eases, for me.
I know that's not much help, but honestly: I'd have to say I like the Cymbalta better, but they've been pretty similar for me overall.
