Thanks folks for input. Just logged back in. We decided to stagger, I'm now on Day 10 total, but only Day 1 at 40mg. We tirated very slowly. 2 in morning, 2 early afternoon. I hope it doesn't take much longer for antidepressant effect. Sleep is tough, and MAOI drowsiness still hasn't gone away. Sort of worsens the "leaden paralysis" this med is meant to cure! But I know it's early, and DOC says it may have to go up to 60 mg or more. Holding off on wellbutrin for now, but was told by doc that it's not unheard of -- preferred over maoi + stim. thx

My pdoc recommends not dosing very late in the day due to possible exacerbation of insomnia. In my own experience, the afternoon sedation went away within two or three weeks of starting Parnate, and a within few days after increasing the dosage. I don't know anything about Wellbutrin, but I'm avoiding any polypharmacy as much as possible to give Parnate its best chance. My one exception is Ambien/Stilnox for the insomnia. Good luck.
