If I remember correctly, wellbutrin blocks the re-uptake of dopamine and methylphenidate stimulates the production of dopamine. However, IANAP (I am not a psychopharmacologist), so someone out there probably knows much better than me.

My response to both is similar to yours. I couldn't handle wellbutrin ... in fact, it made me psychotic (as in near-uncontrollable, unprovoked rages). Methylpheindate, on the other hand, boosted my mood when used with nortriptyline ... at the same time, it didn't make me any more anxious than I already am and didn't interfere with the effect klonopin has on me.
