I too am considering getting off of Effexor. I've been on 75mg for 6 months. It was good for a bit, but in the past month I feel irritable and tired. Really deep yawns where my eyes want to seal themselves shut. I get plenty of sleep. Exercise, eat well. I was going through a specific situation that I felt caused the anxiety and depression. I've done a lot of self-work, spiritual work, and now I want off the drug. I hear absolute HORROR stories about withdrawal and wish that my doctor had offered up more info. other than just tossing me the free samples and saying "these won't make you gain weight" since I expressed that as my main concern going on the AD.
My question is WHEN should I start weening myself off? (I have a dr. appt. later this week) I am a school teacher and school concludes at the end of this month. I am moving to a new city where I have a new job in July. Should I just make June my detox month, or start weening now, or after I get moved and settled?? Detoxing at the new job? I don't want to be addicted to this drug. I pride myself on very natural living. I felt desperate when I went to my doctor 6 months ago.
Any input from those who've been there??
