> Ace--I've tried it 3 times for long-term treatment resistant dsepression. Same results each time: within 3-4 days a very encouraging and welcome mood elevation (found myself singing with the radio for thew first time in a long time), then within another 3-4 days complete loss of benefit, and as I escalated the dose, a worsening depression that took me lower than when I started. At 57, I suspect my brain is dopamine deficient, and the Wellbutrin effectively used what was there until it ran out. I've also read several posts (some citing references) that claim that Wellbutrin use will ultimately deplete dopamine resources. Of course if you're younger and blessed with an abundant supply, this may not be an issue. I'm now on a Parnate trial and will continue posting as I see results, or lack thereof. Good luck
Well that's kind of scary. I recently added WB to my Celexa 40 mgs with the hopes of bringing back my sex drive/orgasms. Not much luck with the sex, but the WB makes me feel more "normal" than just Celexa alone. Celexa makes me happy and agreeable, But when I hear myself talk, I think "God I sound fake" or just feel unconnected to the people I'm talking to. On the combo, I feel like my old self, just less depressed.I know that without the Celexa I'd probably be VERY anxious on just WB, but some people have taken it for anxiety and panic (see above).
I would even be willing to trade my Celexa for a benzo if I could get my mojo back.
But due to the short half life of WB, I feel like I'm "getting high" each time I pop a pill -- medicating my behavior when I feel inadequate instead of taking a pill once a day. Hearing this about WB bilking you of your last drops of dopamine strikes the same chord. I hope that's not true. I assumed WB blocked Dopomaine re-uptake instead of releasing more. That would make it like Cocaine or a psychostim.
Interesting. I still like it for now.
