Thank you both for responding to my post. I find the search for the right combination of meds to be an never-ending odyssey. Bipolar II folks respond quite differently to anti-depressants than Bipolar I patients. I have been on Trileptal for almost a year...it has helped considerably but I still dip down into the deep depressions. Now my Pdoc and I are trying Strattera and Klonopin added to Requip...small doses because I also have Adult ADD. He says he wants to "stabilize" me and then we'll see what meds to keep and what meds I can discontinue. I'm 59 years old and living 750 miles away from my husband (factory closure/economy, etc) and find this a very hard situation to deal with. Next month it will be two years and it has been a long two years. We live north of Atlanta and love the area. He is currently working in Racine, Wisconsin and won't even consider our moving (sigh). We hope every day that one of his resumes will hit the right desk and this difficult separation will end. So my depressions come not only from the Bipolar II but from this situation.
However, I am so grateful to finally have a name, a label to put on all the pain and misadventures of my past. I am glad to know that I wasn't a bad or weak-charactered person. Something was wrong and needed to be fixed.
Enough babbling...take care and keep in touch, please
