Could Ambien interfere with Dexedrine for ADD?

Posted by HelenInCalif on April 5, 2003, at 23:50:26

Last week I had started generic Dexedrine and found it wasn't working well at all (as compared to months of good results with Dex spansules (5mg 2x day)). I'd been thinking that somehow I was reacting differently to generic vs. name brand dexedrine. But in thinking about it- perhaps one other factor is causing the difference.

10 days ago I had started taking Ambien (recent insomnia starting mid-March due to work stress. Melatonin wasn't working and OTC = groggy the next day). My old Dex prescription had run out a bit before that, so I'd never had both at the same time. Is there some chance that Ambien interferes with dexedrine? I take Ambien at 11pm (2.5 to 5 mg) and the d-amphetamine at 9-10am and 1-2pm (5mg each).
