I live in Australia and the following is the magnesium supplement that I take. I have spoken to many Naturopaths on the topic and they all seem to agee that this brand is one of the best magnesium supplements on the market.
If you live in the US I'd be surprised if you couldn't find this brand freely available in your local health food store

They generally recommend that you take magnesium together with calcium in a proportion of 2x calcium to 1x magnesium. But I wouldn't get too fussed about this if your calcium intake is adequate during the rest of your day.
By the way some forms of magnesium are more readily useable and absorbed by the body...especially Magnesium Orotate, Magnesium Aspartate and Magnesium Amino Acid Chelate. The least useable form by your bofy is probably Magnesium Oxide and you will find the cheaper brands of magnesiun supplements will only contain Magnesium Oxide because it also happens to be the cheapest form of magnesium for manufacturers to produce.
You don't have to go out and get the brand I use so my recommendation is to simply look for magnesium supplements that contains one or more of the big three I mentioned above (Magnesium Orotate, Magnesium Aspartate and Magnesium Amino Acid Chelate). Magnesium Citrate is not too bad either.
On your bottle does it say what form the magnesium is in? eg. if it's Magnesium Oxide 212mg will provide about 128 mg of elemental magnesium but this will not be able to be completely used by your body. On the other hand if it's Magnesium Amino Acid Chelate it will only provide about 21.2mg of elemental magnesium but you may actually end up with more of the magnesium being absorbed and used by your body.Magnesium Orotate and Magnesium Aspartate are even more redily useable form of Magnesium for you body.
The trick is to look on the bottles to see what the ELEMENTAL content of the magnesium is ( A lot of manufactrures will pull a "swifty" with this one and won't actually publish the elemental content of the magnesium in their products)
If you have already purchased the bottle of "Slow-Mag" that you referred to my advice to you is that it sounds OK to me......Just use it and if the magnesium is actually a less useable form like Magnesium Oxide just go out and purchase a more useable form next time. Don't throw out good money you've already spent.
