In reply to MAGNESIUM-CAN IT HELP WITH SLEEP?, posted by KrissyP on February 27, 2003, at 2:00:29
Hello,
It is my understanding that magnesium can increase stage 3 and stage 4 sleep. Based on this understanding I decided to see if magnesium could help with my hypersomnia and daytime fatigue. In the past I had taken magnesium glycinate, colloidal magnesium, and IV magnesium push without improvement. I am now taking liquid colloidal magnesium for ten days at 1,500mg per day in three divided doses. By day three, I was sleeping five to seven hours per night, with much less daytime fatigue. Before this I was sleeping 11 hours per night with constant daytime fatiuge. YES, magnesium helps with sleep! Maybe not for insomnia, but for the quality of sleep. I have an appointment with my holistic MD next week, when I will find out if what I am doing is safe. Hope this helps.
