Gepirone taken alone probably won't be an effective treatment for the majority of people with OCD. It will, however, be a useful augmentation to other types of treatment in some cases. No clinical trials have been conducted, so I'm basing my speculation on studies involving buspirone (a 5-HT1A partial agonist that also affects dopamine D2 receptors). I think that it will be interesting to see the clinical benefits that can be gained from mixing gepirone with other drugs selective for particular serotonin receptors.
