I don't like them either. Like some foreboding change in weather. They sound restless to me.
Chimes are spooky.
I sleep with a window unit A/C blowing, a fan at full speed, and an air purifier. If I have to sleep in a dead quiet house, I go nuts.....moreso.
Sounds like a wind tunnel testing lab at night around here.
