While I was on Effexor, my eyes stayed horribly bloodshot. I don't see how anyone could see anybody looking the way I did and not think that they didn't have some kind of trachea bong implant. I couldn't wear my contacts at all. I've also had vision problems similar to what you are describing (nearsightedness) when taking TCAs and other anticholinergic meds. Best of luck tapering off...
