Geno, Mitch, Po_thang, John, & Panic Attack, thank you! You may not know how CORRECT you were in response to my question.
Just returned from pdoc appointment.
1) Mitch-your right-looks like alpha-2 adrenoreceptor antagonism is the culprit. Like you I got VERY hostile - pdoc confirms dysphoric hypomania. Told me to increase Dep. and go easy on Remeron.
2) John-I have taken several ADs including Wellbutrin (the rest were SSRIs). I think Wellbutrin is perhaps the overall best for many of us with Bipolar II for reasons you know. I never pushed Well to the limit and I had no mood stablizers in the mix at the time. I have only been stabilized 9 months - since then - Zoloft pushed to 200mg.To date Ziprasidone triggered dysphoric hypomania when I was not stabilized and Remeron did the same when I was stabilized. Please remember I am a "brittle" Bipolar II due to thirty years of incorrect monotherapy with TCAs and a LOT of noncompliance. It is also difficult because "I don't trust anyone (pdocs)". Well I trust the one I saw today - knows his stuff. I hope each of you take a little pride in your contribution on this subject. I was in more than a little trouble when I posted this subject......you made THE difference.
Thank you
Geezer
