Wellbutrin DOES work for your basic depressive illness.
I had taken Prozac for a few years then it pooped out on me. Your doc is wise, however, to wean you off the SSRI. Whereas there are arguments for using WB along with an SSRI, if the SSRI has stopped working for you, why take the unnecessary med? Your dose for WB will increase to 150 SR x 2, it is always started slowly then built up due to some side effect is has. Once you get on two a day, it may be 3-4 weeks before you see the best results, so hang with it. Also, if you just feel too jittery or anxious after you are on twice a days, ask doc for a benzo like Tranzene or Klonopin. They work well.
